What We Need & What You Get:
In addition to offering a few prototype kits, we are selling some awesome perk items and seeking donations for this cause. As a team of recent Engineering grads, we have been working tirelessly to manifest the vision of water independence. The help we have from California Polytechnic State University and Sangha Energy has been a valuable resource, but to get this vision to reality, we need more. We are seeking more funding to finalize our research and development, to create a final product that is ready for the market. This includes more extensive water quality testing, design optimization, and manufacturing.
Currently we are offering our prototype for sale as a kit for early adopters. This prototype kit will not be our certified product, but will be able to treat water for both plumbing and irrigation reuse in an experimental setting. What is sold as a working prototype is for experimental/educational purposes only, water quality precision will not be guaranteed until a full prototype has been developed and tested. There are different kits available:
1) $399 - Solar Distiller plans + custom components, solar power not included, DIY assembly, UV disinfection, partially automated, best paired with Greywater Treatment 2) $699 – Greywater Treatment plans, works with Solar Distiller, DIY assembly, partially automated, for water reuse and irrigation 3) $899 – Solar Distiller plans + custom components, includes solar power and UV disinfection, DIY assembly, partially automated, for potable reuse experimentation 4) $1599 - Greywater Treatment + Solar Distiller plans combo
Once we optimize our design and it becomes available on the market, we will be a resource for early adopters to upgrade their kits. We will also provide detailed instructions on assembly and application, and we will be available via phone, live chat, and email to assist. Some of inexpensive bulky items for each of the kits will be need to be bought separately to avoid high shipping cost (like water barrels). If we cannot meet production expectations or we fall short of our minimum goal of kits sold, we will refund what funding is available at the time of the decision. This likely won't be an issue, but as with all crowdfunding, there is no guarantee for a full refund if unexpected issues arise in production. All other perks will be delivered and donations will be used for further research & development regardless.
Future Vision:
Our vision is to have excellent ergonomics and style for the SORA. There will be customizable paneling and color matching options. The Sora Water Recycler will self-monitor water quality with various electronic sensors to keep your water clean and pure. Smartphone hookup is also something we're trying to incorporate for water quality monitoring. For now we have designed and sized the recycler for households and residential type uses, but the technology is scalable for larger uses. We plan to explore the viability of larger scale uses and different treatment options with more funding for research and development.
